IRST was founded in 1991, by the two directors, Derek Keegan and Malcolm Hunt. Initially, the company’s main focus was on the area of Rescue, and a large proportion of the business was with the Fire and Rescue Services throughout the country, as well as with Mountain Rescue and Cliff Rescue teams.
Today, the company supplies and trains many Fire and Rescue Services throughout Ireland in Rope Rescue Procedures, and in Vertical Rope Access and Rescue. The Company also works extensively with Rescue teams and Emergency Response Teams in Industry, Mountain and Cliff Rescue Teams, as well as with Military and Police specialist units.
In recent years, the company has been delivering specialist training to military search teams; both for the Irish Defence Forces, and also for the European Defence Agency.
Over the years, the company has been extremely active in the Industrial sector, providing safety equipment and training for most of the main players in the Telecommunications Industry, as well as some of the largest construction and Civil Engineering companies in the state. Safety solutions, equipment and training, are now also provided by the company for all types of manufacturing industries throughout Ireland.
